It was pointed out during the meeting that as many as 506 water consumer committees had been set up for 90 identified irrigation projects and training work for them completed. Works worth Rs. 270 crores of 65 packages have been allotted for strengthening various irrigation schemes.

The State Government has established a separate Water Resources Scheme Department to work for an integrated and concerted development of the water sector.
