Load-shedding in rural areas will now be for a duration of only 30 minutes as in the case of urban areas. The duration was extended from 30 minutes to 60 minutes in rural areas in the first week of this month due to the poor storage position in hydel reservoirs. In a press release issued here, the Electricity Minister, Kadavoor Sivadasan, said it might be possible to exempt all holidays, including Sundays, from load-shedding. "If the monsoon continues like this, we can even do away with load-shedding on all days,'' he said.
