PM `registered protest' with Shinde

Mumbai June 23. The Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, had `registered his protest' with the Maharashtra Chief Minister, Sushilkumar Shinde, for not receiving him or seeing him off during his (Mr. Vajpayee's) visit to Mumbai last week to take part in the BJP's `Chintan Baithak'. Mr. Vajpayee had made a telephone call to Mr. Shinde recently to inform him that the Centre had cleared his (Mr. Shinde's) 10-day trip to the U.S.

Mr. Shinde revealed this during an informal chat with reporters at the Vidhan Bhavan here today. ``Mr. Vajpayee called at Varsha (CM's official residence) a day after he left for Delhi. I was in Akola for the MPCC meeting. I called back. I said I was busy due to prior commitments so I could not meet him. He told me that my U.S. tour had been cleared.''
