Shot dead

AHMEDABAD June 23. Two members of the Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Shakeel gang, allegedly on a mission to kill the Gujarat Law Minister, Ashok Bhatt, and a BJP MLA, Bharat Barot, have been killed in an encounter early this morning.

The Joint Commissioner of Ahmedabad Police (CID-Crime), P.P. Pandey, said that Ganesh Kunte and Mahendra Jhadav, were here to eliminate the BJP leaders on the "Rath Yatra" day on July 1.

He said the police acted on a tip-off that the duo had arrived here.
