`LTTE preparing for war'

Colombo June 25. The Sri Lankan President, Chandrika Kumaratunga, today warned that the LTTE, which pulled out of the peace talks in April, was preparing for war and that security forces were ill-prepared to meet a threat to the northern peninsula of Jaffna.

Ms. Kumaratunga, who is also the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, felt that the Tigers were ready for a repeat of the 1995 peace process with her when the rebels abruptly pulled out of negotiations and returned to war, the President's spokesman, Harim Peiris, said today. — PTI
