40 Iraqis killed

CAIRO JUNE 26. Forty persons were killed in the Iraqi city of Najaf when looters accidentally set an ammunition depot on fire, the Al-Ayyam weekly reported today.

The incident occurred on Sunday when looters were trying to steal large quantities of brass shell cases. As they were emptying the shells there was an explosion which set the whole depot on fire. — DPA
