Vasan meets Sonia

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI JUNE 28. The Tamil Nadu Congress leader and MP, G.K. Vasan, today called on the party president, Sonia Gandhi, and apprised her of the latest situation in the State Congress and the political situation in the State.

Mr. Vasan, who met Ms. Gandhi this morning, told The Hindu, that he briefed her on the manner in which the party was preparing to celebrate the Kamaraj centenary at Virudhunagar in Tamil Nadu next month. He explained at length the meeting that he and his supporters had with the AICC general secretary, Kamal Nath, during the latter's visit to Chennai.

Refuting reports of differences within the State Congress, Mr. Vasan said: ``we may have different tracks, but all end at the same place, to celebrate the centenary of Kamaraj''.
