PM's China visit a fiasco, says Swamy

New Delhi June 30. The Janata Party president, Subramanian Swamy, today described as a ``fiasco'' the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee's visit to China and accused him of signing on the ``dotted line'' the border trade agreement through Nathula La pass in Sikkim without ``caring'' for national security.

"The agreement was first signed by the Chandrashekhar Government in February, 1991 when as the Commerce Minister I went to Beijing," he said adding that on the advice of the Indian military establishment ``we did not include the Nathu La pass as a border trading point. Subsequent Governments also followed that policy.''

But, he said in a statement from Boston, Mr. Vajpayee rushed in and signed on the dotted line.
