Swimming
The squad includes four from Karnataka and they are Rehan Poncha, Shika Tandon,V. Sivaranjani and Ambica.N.S. Iyengar. The other two are Richa Misra from Delhi and V. Arun from Tamil Nadu. S. Pradeep Kumar and K.V. Sharma will accompany the squad as the coach and the manager respectively. For the younger ones of the squad like Sivaranjani and Ambica Iyengar, the World's premier aquatic event, offers a great learning experience and exposure. For Rehan Poncha and Shika Tandon and Richa Misra, who have already made quite a few international meets, it should help them to set their sights higher. Richa, who is training in Hungary and is on way to qualifying for the 2004 Olympics, and Rehan, who recently did a stint of training in the City of Perth Club in Australia, are also aiming to qualify for the Olympics. Nisha Millet, who figured earlier in the list, had opted out of the championship. She told The Hindu, " This being a no cost to the government trip, I might have to shell out quite a bit for the participation and my goal is to qualify for the Olympics, I would rather concentrate on that''. The Swimming Federation of India (SFI) also notified that the camp for the Asian Age Group championship, slated at Macau in August, will be held in Bangalore from July 21. Our Special Correspondent
