NEW DELHI
JULY 7.
The Planning Commission fixed Bihar's annual Plan for 2003-04 at Rs. 3,320 crores which includes additional Central assistance of Rs. 50 crores for priority schemes.
The finalisation of the Plan size came about at a meeting here today between the Commission's Deputy Chairman, K. C. Pant, and the State Chief Minister, Rabri Devi. During the discussions, Mr. Pant pointed out that the Union Cabinet had approved a special package for development of infrastructure in Bihar to give impetus to the development of power, irrigation, roads and animal husbandry. He urged the State Government to supplement the Centre's efforts by improving the law and order situation, revenue mobilisation and optimum utilisation of funds for developmental schemes.
Briefing the Commission, the Chief Minister said the State had improved its Plan realisation and efforts were on to accelerate the pace of development in infrastructure and the health sector.
