MLA injured

BHOPAL JULY 7. A Socialist Party MLA from Uttar Pradesh, Kamlesh Pathak, was injured and one of his companions, Nandan Singh, was killed on the spot in a shootout at Bhind in Madhya Pradesh today.

According to reports, Mr. Pathak's brother-in-law, Pawan Sharma, along with a few accomplices allegedly opened fire killing Mr. Singh and injuring Mr. Pathak, who was rushed to hospital.

Mr. Sharma and five others have been arrested. Police have seized an automatic revolver, a 12-bore gun, a country-made pistol and ammunition from them.
