Israeli special envoy meets Advani
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI
JULY 8.
David Ivry, special envoy of the Israeli Foreign Minister, Silvan Shalom, today met the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, and explained his country's strategy for peace and the steps it had taken to implement the "road map" for peace with Palestine.
Speaking to presspersons after the meeting, he said that India was "an important country" and the Israeli Government wanted to understand its perspective.
Asked if Israel had a view on the issue of sending Indian troops to Iraq, he said this was an internal issue and one that his country should not be involved in. But, did Israel have a view on the issue? He said Israel wanted stability in the region and if Indian troops contributed to this stability it was fine.
