Sanyo to launch digital cine projectors

CHENNAI JULY 11. Sanyo Electric Company of Japan is planning to come out with new models of projectors catering to cinema houses. These would be launched simultaneously worldwide by October this year, according to Shinya Takagaki, Manager, Sanyo Service group. Besides Japan, the company would be targeting India and China which had good potential for such projectors, Mr. Takagaki told presspersons here today. India would especially see enormous demand for digital projectors, as there were as much as 48,000 cinema halls in the country, he said.

Mr. Takagaki was here in connection with the launch of a `concept centre' established by the Chennai based `Office 2000', the master distributor of Sanyo's audio-visual products such as multimedia LCD projectors.

According to Azharuddin, director, Office 2000, the concept centre would serve as a technology showcase, featuring end-to-end audio-visual solutions for the corporate and consumer segments.

Similar concept centres would be coming up in Hyderabad and Bangalore and later in Mumbai or Pune, to cater to the growing demand from corporates and educational institutions, Mr. Azharuddin said.

The company's major customers included IIT-Madras, Ford, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Ashok Leyland and Taj group of Hotels among others, he said.
