Cash award for Sania

Mumbai July 11. Sania Mirza, the girl's doubles winner at Wimbledon, will receive a cash award of Rs. 20,001 from the Sports Journalists Association of Mumbai (SJAM), Maharashtra. This sum is a little more than the prize money (US $350) the winning pair of the ITF Masters in India receives. Sania will be presented the money during her next visit to the city.

The SJAM instituted cash awards three years ago during the Mumbai Gold Cup hockey tournament. Ramandeep Singh, then India's captain, was the first winner of the award of Rs. 5,000. Thereafter Baljit Singh Dhillon and Prabhjot Singh were nominated outstanding players of the 2002 and 2003 Gold Cup tournaments.
