The theme of the meet is `Understanding, confidence-building and conflict resolution'. The Pakistan Prime Minister, Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, is expected to inaugurate the programme. The SAFMA organisers are hopeful that Indian parliamentary delegates representing all parties, including the Bharatiya Janata Party, will participate. The SAFMA secretary general, Imtiaz Alam, told The Hindu that the association's Indian chapter was in touch with the leaders of all the political parties to persuade them to send their representatives and claimed that the latter had contacted the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, the Prime Minister's National Security Adviser, Brajesh Mishra, and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leader, K. Sudarshan.
