"I have been in touch with key members of the Muslim Board through a mediator and I would like to reiterate once again that the Ayodhya issue cannot be resolved through a Supreme Court verdict," the Acharya said in an informal chat with presspersons after launching a three-month special Nepal tourism package programme in the presence of the Nepal Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation Minister, S.N. Shukla, at a function. Asked whether his present initiative would be viewed as a victory or failure, the Acharya said: "The issue is not a matter of victory or failure. But, it should be viewed in totality by taking into account the nation's overall interest". "Talks" with the Muslim Board still continued, even after the rejection of his proposal, the Acharya said, adding that the resolutions of the Muslim Board had been sent to him. Appealing to the media to be careful in reporting on Ayodhya, he said most of the facts of his recent initiatives had been "twisted and blown out of proportion", especially the contents of his clarification letter.
