The statue, which was ready more than two ago, was kept under wraps for Mr. Chiranjeevi to unveil it. In the confusion created by fans, the wooden and iron barricades were broken by the surging youth and scores of chairs were smashed. The police just could not control the frenzied fans. The dais was arranged in the middle of the road and traffic was diverted since yesterday. Chiranjeevi had to cross the road and come to the statue kept in an enclosure at the Kamabal tank covering a distance of just about 200 metres. But the fans were in such a delirious mood that he could not cross that distance even with the help of the police.
