Nod for urban poor scheme

NELLORE JULY 14. After protracted deliberations, heated arguments and an initial adjournment, the emergency meeting of the Nellore Municipal Council, held here on Monday, passed a resolution approving the `basic map' of the schemes pertaining to the urban poor infrastructure. The scheme funded by the DIFD agency of the British Government has been hanging in the balance for the last 18 months, whereas it has already entered the second phase in rest of the municipalities in State. Today's approval will enable the civic body to get an assistance of Rs. 5 crores for various development works mainly in slums and other inhabitations of poorer sections of society.
