The AISF district president, N. Narasimhulu, and the secretary, G. Chandra, said that the meritorious, SC, ST, BC and OBC students would have to bear common fee of Rs. 22,000 unlike in the past. Criticising the recent Supreme Court judgment, they wanted a review of it in Parliament. Vesting powers with private managements to decide the fee structure keeping in view the economic and social circumstances would jeopardise students' interests and deprive them of educational avenues, they alleged. They demanded continuation of free seats and the previous fee structure and withdrawal of common fee. They demanded conduct of counselling as in the past and threatened to obstruct counselling for engineering and medicine seats slated at Tirupati on July 18.
