According to the information reaching here, the student, S. Madhu (14), was suffering from fever for the last six days. He was taken to the Government Area Hospital at Kadiri on Monday as his condition deteriorated. However, he died. The student belonged to Tapovan Nagar in Anantapur. The body of the boy was handed over the his father, Jagadish Babu, working for the LIC, around 2 p.m. after taking an undertaking that he was taking his son's body who died of epilepsy. The school authorities too stated that the boy was an epileptic patient. The Deputy Director of Social Welfare, Bennaiah, who went there for an inquiry was demanded by the AISF leaders to conduct open inquiry instead of speaking to the school staff indoors. Students of the schools complained to the official that sanitation was poor in the school and the food supplied was of inferior quality. The inspecting officer was a witness himself to the lack of lighting in bathrooms and latrines and lack of fans in the dormitories. Stench was emanating from bathrooms and latrines. The AISF leaders demanded an ex gratia of Rs. 1 lakh to the family of the deceased student.
