Girls fare better in Inter exam

HYDERABAD July 14. Girls fared better once again in the second year Intermediate Advanced supplementary examinations registering a pass percentage of 38.62, against 33.57 per cent of boys. The combined pass percentage was 35.42 per cent.

Releasing the results here on Monday, the Minister for Higher Education, N.Md. Farooq, said the cumulative pass percentage for the year 2003 rose to 61.24 per cent as the pass percentage in the 2003 annual examinations was 46.62 per cent.

However, Nalgonda district which was nowhere in the toppers list in the annual examinations registered maximum pass percentage of 47.20, while Srikakulam stood at the bottom with 28.32 per cent. Mahabubnagar, which was at the bottom in the annual examinations, fared much better this time.

The Minister said marks sheets would be despatched to Regional Inspection Officers by July 19. Students can obtain them from their respective colleges from July 23 onwards. Any discrepancies should be referred to the board before August 23. Applications received after that would not be entertained.

Mr. Farooq said those willing to apply for recounting have to pay Rs. 100 per paper and Rs. 1,000 per paper for revaluation. Photocopies of answer scripts would be supplied on payment of Rs. 600 per subject. Candidates desirous of applying for recounting should send their applications with all particulars to the BIE office before August 2.

The applications for revaluation of scripts should reach the BIE office before August 8. In respect of photocopy and revaluation the applications should be submitted to the Board through principals of the colleges where the student last studied.

Replying to a question, the BIE Secretary, B. Kripanandam, said that they received 2,900 applications for revaluation and 2,000 odd applications for recounting. Variation of marks was observed in over 25 per cent of papers, he said.
