Andhra Pradesh-Hyderabad
By Our Staff Reporter
Seven others who were allegedly involved in the clash were still at large, a press release said. Investigations revealed that the clash was a fallout of a long-running rivalry between two groups, one led by a realtor, K. Shankar Goud, and the other by K. Ravi Goud. Ravi's younger brother, Praveen Kumar Goud, was murdered by Shankar, his son, Venkatesh, and their associates on October 10, 2002. All the accused in this murder case were arrested by the Golconda police and were later released on bail. Since then, Ravi and his two brothers bore grudge against Shankar and were waiting for an opportunity to take revenge. Initially, Praveen of Nanakramguda was an associate of Shankar who was a rowdy-sheeter under the limits of Rayadurgam and Golconda police stations. In the year 2000, Praveen fell out with Shankar over a financial dispute and was killed by the latter subsequently. Ravi came in contact with one Shekhar of Indiranagar who was allegedly involved in the murder of Pratap Reddy, president of Jinnaram mandal in Medak district. Shekhar, along with five of his associates, agreed to help Ravi in elimination of Shankar. Three other residents of Khajaguda -Surender Goud, Narender and Ravi Kumar, who were opposed to Shankar, also joined hands with Ravi. On coming to know that Shankar would attend a meeting at Rayadurgam municipal grounds, Ravi and the other accused went to the meeting place in a jeep and attacked Shankar and others on June 30 around 11 a.m. In the melee, Shankar's son, Venkatesh, fired at the attackers with a .38 revolver which left one of Ravi's accomplices, Surya Mohan Reddy, dead.
