Heavy rain lashes city

HYDERABAD July 14. Intermittent, heavy rain lashed the twin cities late on Monday evening. While the Meteorological Department said it had recorded 8.2 mm of rainfall until 11.30 p.m., the rains continued until late in the night.

Several areas like Jubilee Hills, parts of Secunderabad, Abids, Koti and Malakpet received heavy rainfall. Low-lying areas like the slums of Khairatabad, including the Visveswarayya Circle, Bank Street got flooded, once again exposing the unpreparedness of the city administration.
