Trinamool to lift Assembly boycott

KOLKATA JULY 16. The Trinamool Congress today decided to return to the West Bengal Assembly, ending its 21-day-old boycott of the ongoing budget session, following a suggestion by the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee. ``The Prime Minister has asked us to withdraw the boycott and return to the Assembly to raise issues against the Government on the floor of the House. We assured him that we will accept his suggestion,'' the Trinamool Congress chief, Mamata Banerjee, said.

Earlier, a Trinamool delegation comprising MPs and MLAs met Mr. Vajpayee at the Raj Bhavan and complained to him about the ruling CPI(M)'s ``terror'' against political opponents in the State. ``Tomorrow we have convened a working committee meeting of the party, where the Prime Minister's suggestion for ending the house boycott will be formally endorsed,'' she said.
