Gowda for autonomy to CBI

By Our Special Correspondent

GULBARGA July 17. The former Prime Minister and JD(S) president, H.D. Deve Gowda, today favoured autonomy to the Central Bureau of Investigation.

Mr. Gowda told presspersons here that the CBI, which now functioned under the Prime Minister, should be accountable to the President. This would free the agency from the pulls and pressures of politicians.
