Vivek Oberoi undergoes operation

Mumbai July 17. Bollywood actor, Vivek Oberoi, who fractured his left leg in Kolkata on Wednesday during a film shoot, underwent an operation here today and is expected to be out of action for at least three months, hospital sources said.

He was brought here from Kolkata and admitted to the Hinduja Hospital at Mahim in central Mumbai.

Orthopaedic surgeon, Sanjay Agarwala, said he would be fixing the fracture with nails and screws — an `interlocking system' procedure. This would permit ambulation and mobility.

Vivek suffered serious fractures in his left leg during a chase sequence while shooting for a Mani Ratnam film on a bridge over the Hoogly.

The actor arrived here by the morning flight from Kolkata and was taken straight to hospital.

Mani Ratnam discharged

In Kolkata, film director, Mani Ratnam, who was admitted to a city hospital on Wednesday evening with low blood pressure, fever and dehydration, was released this evening after his condition became stable.

Mani Ratnam, accompanied by wife Suhasini and production unit members, left the hospital under tight security for the Taj Bengal hotel where his crew is staying.

The director, who fainted after Vivek Oberoi fractured his leg, had been suffering from dehydration due to the high humidity levels.
