In Singanagudem village of Chintoor mandal, Vuke Kannaiah, 45, a tribal farmer, died of diarrhoea at 11 a.m on Friday. He had been bed-ridden for about three days. Local officials claimed that he was around 56 years old and he was attended on by local doctors. Some children below ten years were also affected with diarrhoea in the village. A housewife, Ettimuttamma, 42, died of diarrhoea in Ganganamitta village of Tummala Gram panchayat. Similarly, R. Muttammam, 50 of Rekavarigudem in the same gram panchayat also died with symptoms of gastroenteritis. A 12-year-old boy, Vuke Raju of Sarivela village also died in the day after repeated vomiting and diarrhoea. In Charla mandal, a diarrhoea death was reported from Rallagudem village. The mandal officials visited the village late in the evening and further details are awaited. Three persons died in Bhadrachalam division on Thursday. Vuke Kannaiah, 45, of Singanagudem village, Gorre Ramaiah, 55 of, Chinna Sitanapalli and Bogga Narayana, a three-year-old boy of Gangannametta died of seasonal diseases. The tribal primary health centres at Chintoor, Vararamachandrapuram, Kunavaram, Charla and Venkatapuram had dozens of tribal patients treated for diarrhoea this week. The incidence of fevers was also very high in the area even as incessant drizzle affected sanitation.
