By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE JULY 20. Karunakaran Vijay (47), deported from Nigeria two weeks ago for allegedly cheating five nationalised banks of crores of rupees, died of kidney failure in a government hospital here on Saturday.

Vijay is said to have been ill for five days. On Saturday, he was taken from the Central Jail here to the hospital, where he died.

He is said to have complained of hypertension when he was initially in the custody of the Central Bureau of Investigation.
