No threat to Parrikar Govt. now

Panaji July 20. An immediate threat to the Manohar Parrikar Government in Goa has withered away with the Chief Minister retaining the support of all 23 members in his Cabinet as on date, following the split in two of the regional parties in the coalition. The composition of the 40-member House after the split in the Maharashtravadi Gomantak Party (MGP) and the United Goans Democratic Party (UGDP) is: BJP-17, Congress-16, UGDP (Secular)-2, UGDP-1 and one each MGP (Nationalist), MGP and NCP-one each, besides an independent.

If the MGP and the UGDP officially announce their actual withdrawal of the support to the Parrikar Government today, the BJP will still have a slender strength of 21 legislators, including two UGDP (Secular) one MGP (Nationalist) and an independent. — PTI, UNI
