Mr. Mohammad was caught by Anti-Corruption Bureau officials on January 31, 1997, when he allegedly accepted Rs. 20,000 from a rig owner for passing bills while working in Karimnagar district, according to a press release here.
Cut in pension
A retired Joint Director of Animal Husbandry Department, V. Ananda Kumar Reddy, was punished with a cut in pension for six months as corruption charges against him were proved. The ACB officials enquired into the alleged misconduct of Mr. Kumar during his tenure at Anantapur between July 17, 1997, and June 30, 1998, a press release said. The ACB charged him with receiving Rs. 8,800 in his wife's name from a firm for placing indents on it to supply medicines. Subsequently, the Commissioner of Enquiries recommended punishment for the former official.
