Letters to the Editor
Sir, This is with reference to your Editorial, "The Noor Effect" ( July 19 ). It reiterates the fact that the common man has an open mind towards his neighbours. The concern shown by Indians and Pakistanis, both in terms of care and financial support, is evident from the flow of funds to the hospital. Let the Noor effect take us on the road to good ties between the two countries. And let there be cross-border goodwill rather than terrorism. S. Lakshmi Priya, Srirangam, T.N. * * * Sir, The overwhelming stream of affection for Noor has revealed a `cross-border reality' as noted in your Editorial. Indeed, it has unravelled certain important myths and realities that should not go unnoticed. The myth is that every Indian unconditionally abhors every Pakistani. The reality is that the common Indians and Pakistanis would like to live in an atmosphere of amity and love. Bishu Prusty, Puttaparthi, A.P. * * * Sir, The very response to the operation from the people shows the feeling prevalent in the country. Noor Fatima is a symbol of love and peace of the people of both the countries. At the grassroots, there has always been friendship. Let us hope that Noor shows the way. Yasser Arafath, Kozhikode, Kerala
