Fresh option for engg. courses

By Our Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Jul. 21. The Government has passed orders allowing admissions to various courses in the four newly sanctioned engineering colleges and for some remaining seats in the three engineering colleges that had received the AICTE's `continuing' approval this year.

A press note issued by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations here today said the Government has also reduced the fee for Government seats in self-financing colleges, for candidates whose families' annual income was not more than Rs. 60,000, from the present Rs. 36,000 to Rs. 18,000.

Now, fresh options have been invited for the 50 per cent Government seats in these new colleges and from those who were not able to get admission or give option consequent to the reduction in fee, which was announced after the centralised allotment had commenced.

Details of the courses and colleges for which options have been invited are contained in the chart `A' given below.

For giving these fresh options, the candidate or his/her authorised representative should present themselves at the TJM Hall at the LMS Compound on July 30, 31, August 1 and 2, as per the schedule in chart `B' given below. Those who did not take part in the allotment process earlier too can now submit options. Those who have qualified for admission after writing the SAY examinations can submit options only for the new colleges.

Those whose family income is not more than Rs. 60,000 a year can submit options for those self-financing colleges to which they could not gain admission or those they were unable to include in the option list at the time of the centralised allotment process, on producing the newly received income certificate from the respective village offices. If necessary they can also give options to the new colleges. However, those whose annual family income is more than Rs. 60,000 can give option only for the new colleges; they will not be allowed to modify their existing option list.

Those with annual family income less than Rs.60,000 who have already received allotment and do not wish to change that, need not present themselves for the new allotment. They can produce the income certificate at the colleges and claim fee concession.

Those who have given joint options for engineering, medicine and B.Pharm courses can now also give joint options. Those who receive course/college change should compulsorily accept the same. Those who get admission to colleges on July 23, 24 and 25 as per the yellow memo and do not wish any change in allotment can cancel their option list on or before July 28.

Those arriving to given new option should fill up their old and new options in the OMR sheet then itself. Options will not be accepted by post.
