Centre misusing CBI: Mulayam

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI JULY 21. The Samajwadi Party president, Mulayam Singh Yadav, today accused the Centre of misusing the Central Bureau of Investigation to bail out some of the Central Ministers linked with the Babri Masjid demolition case. "The CBI is being used to dilute the charge sheet against Mr. Advani and Mr. Murli Manohar Joshi in the Babri Masjid demolition case," he alleged.

Speaking to newspersons, he said an independent agency like the CBI was being "arm-twisted" by the Central Government to enable the two Ministers to wriggle out of the case. "It is a brazen misuse of government machinery," he added.

Referring to the controversial Taj corridor project, Mr. Yadav said the CBI should investigate the role of ``important people''. "Some very important people are involved and this must be probed thoroughly," he said.
