Award for journalist

NEW DELHI JULY 25. This year's Prem Bhatia Memorial Award for Political Reporting and Analysis has been awarded to Praveen Swami of the Frontline magazine.The selection of Mr. Swami for the award — which carries a citation and a cash component of Rs. 1 lakh — was made by a jury comprising Surinder Nihal Singh (chairman), Ajit Bhattacharjea, Harish Khare, Madhavan Kutty, Inder Malhotra and S.K. Singh.

The award will be presented on the occasion of the Prem Bhatia Memorial Lecture at the India International Centre here on August 11. The topic of the lecture, to be delivered by Lakshman Kadirgamar, former Sri Lankan Foreign Minister and now Senior Adviser to the President of Sri Lanka on Foreign Affairs, will be "World affairs after Iraq".
