As in the past, the timetable contains a train index arranged number-wise and name-wise (alphabetically). In order to improve readability of "Trains at a Glance", now in its 27th year of publication, different types of trains are placed in different coloured columns. While the Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Jan Shatabdi Express trains are indicated in pink coloured columns, superfast trains figure in yellow coloured columns and ordinary mail/express train services are marked in blue coloured columns, as was done in the previous issue. Further, trains in a particular table have been arranged chronologically, in the order of their departure time. Retaining all the user-friendly features of previous year's timetable, the current issue has been suitably updated for train index and station index. The multi-coloured railway map has been updated to indicate all the newly commissioned lines, converted sections and newly constituted States. Another unique feature is the schematic representation of routes as also the titles of the table. Following the creation of new zonal railways, the enlistment of their names and area of jurisdiction was imperative and this need has been met by incorporating the names and area of jurisdiction of the newly constituted zones.
