Pak. should act

Sir, — Your Editorial, "Rocky road to peace" ( July 24 ), is well balanced. Unless Pervez Musharraf takes creative and constructive steps to end sponsored violence on the Indian soil, the peacekeeping process will have no meaning. If the Pakistan-based terrorist groups speak the language of violence and terror, resulting in the loss of innocent lives, as they did in the recent attack on eight Army personnel in Kashmir, a stage will come when the Indian military will take its turn. Pakistan must not take India lightly. Clear signals of a crushing retaliatory strike should be sent out. Let good counsel prevail on Gen. Musharraf.

S. Elangovan,
Kancheepuram, T.N.
