Accident averted

KOLKATA JULY 27. Passengers of the Howrah-Guwahati Kamrup Express had a narrow escape today following the timely detection of a rail fracture between the Gankar and Jangipur stations in the Azimganj-Barharwa section of the Eastern Railway's Malda division.

The fracture, which was detected at 5.30 a.m., was repaired and the train was allowed to proceed at 7.13 a.m. with restricted speed.

Normal traffic in the section resumed from 9 a.m.
