Junaid taken off ventilator
By Our Staff Reporter
BANGALORE
July 29.
Junaid Khalid, the eight-year-old boy from Pakistan, was taken off the ventilator at Narayana Hrudayalaya here on Tuesday.
The boy was operated on Monday and Rajesh Sharma, the lead paediatric cardiac surgeon at the surgery, told The Hindu that the child was doing fine. Junaid would be in the hospital's intensive therapy unit (ITU) for some more days, he said.
The hospital authorities said Junaid's parents, Khalid Mehmood and Farzana, had their child's treatment sponsored by an anonymous person from Pakistan. The cost was not met from the newly set up Dosti Fund, they said. Noor Fatima, meanwhile, is on her way back home. Dr Sharma said the child's parents, Nadeem Sajjad and Tayyaba Nadeem, would leave the hospital as soon as they get tickets to Delhi. The girl's parents have no plans of a stopover in Mumbai although they have been invited to do so by people there.
