Notice to Solanki in Bofors case
By Our Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI
JULY 29.
A special court here today directed the former External Affairs Minister, Madahvsinh Solanki, to file a reply to an application of the Central Bureau of Investigation, seeking his prosecution for allegedly handing over a fabricated document to the then Swiss Foreign Minister, Rene Felber, to "influence" the investigation into the multi-crore Bofors gun deal in 1992.
The Special Judge for CBI cases, Prem Kumar, asked counsel for Mr. Solanki to file the reply by August 18. The latter appeared before the court on a notice issued on June 9.
The CBI alleged that Mr. Solanki had handed over the fabricated document containing false statements and facts in the form of a memorandum to Mr. Felber when he visited that country to attend the annual World Economic Conference in Davos.
