Uttar Pradesh
By J.P. Shukla
Addressing a press conference here, Ms. Mayawati said BSP support to the National Democratic Alliance-led Government in New Delhi would continue and her coalition government in Uttar Pradesh would also run without any problems. There was, she added, no change in the BSP commitment to the BJP that both parties would contest the next Lok Sabha elections in the State jointly. Ms. Mayawati said "a coalition is like a big family in which differences are natural. But they do not break the family." The Chief Minister said the Prime Minister had assured her in a telephonic conversation that he would pay full attention to her complaints relating to the controversy over the Taj Project. Mr. Advani had echoed the same. She expressed regret that the BSP members disrupted Parliamentary proceedings because of "some misunderstanding". She had advised her party MPs only to raise their grievances in a forceful way and not affect House business. "Such disruptions of Parliamentary proceedings are not proper and should be avoided in future.''
