Three dyeing unit workers die of asphyxiation

NAMAKKAL JULY 29. Three workers of a dyeing unit at Komarapalayam, near here, died of asphyxiation this evening when they fell into a tank containing effluents of chemicals.

The police said Palaniappan (30), while cleaning the 10-foot high effluent tank, became unconscious and fell into it. Another worker, Nagaraj (25), who tried to save him, fell into it. Nagaraj (22), who tried to save both of them, also fell into the tank and died.

According to the Tiruchengode DSP, Pon. Chandrasekaran, the bodies could be recovered only after the tank was desilted.
