Mr. Walker started working as a bus conductor and was spotted by the legendary Balraj Sahani entertaining some passengers with his witticism. One day pretending to be drunk, Mr. Walker walked up to director Guru Dutt. The latter snapped him up for the role in `Baazi' in 1951 and he was renamed `Johnny Walker' after the famous scotch brand. He became a household name for his role in `CID', a Guru Dutt production. PTI
