Models flee the ramp as Sainiks storm show

AHMEDABAD JULY 31. . Top international models had to beat a hasty retreat at Rajkot, after activists, allegedly belonging to the Shiv Sena, stormed a fashion show and resorted to vandalism, demanding closure of the event. About 60 persons, armed with hockey sticks and `lathis', stormed the Chowky Dhani Garden Resort on the Rajkot-Jamnagar highway late last night and forced the closure of the fashion show organised by the National Institute of Fashion Design (Ahmedabad), Rajkot police sources said.

According to a complaint filed by Amit Raitha, reportedly the owner of the resort, the activists stormed in, raising slogans such as "Shiv Sena zindabaad" and "Jai Bhavani. "They flung the chairs, broke the `traditional huts', lanterns and tore off nearly 110 posters inside the resort", police said quoting from the complaint.
