TADA court pulls up J&K police

By Our Staff Reporter

JAMMU AUG. 1. The TADA court here today pulled up the police for failure to execute the warrants issued against the former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, G.M. Shah, the Jamaat-e-Islami leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, the Jammu & Kashmir Liberation Front chief, Mohd. Yasin Malik, and others for alleged "dishonour" to the national flag.

At a political rally in Srinagar on August 20, 1987, the accused had also allegedly made anti-national speeches. A case was registered at Sher-Garhi, Srinagar, and a challan presented in the Additional Court of TADA, which was later transferred to the TADA Court, Jammu. The court directed the Director-General of Police to execute fresh warrants and initiate an inquiry against the police officials who had failed to execute the earlier orders.
