Kelly probe opens

LONDON AUG. 1. The judicial inquiry into the death of the British weapons scientist, David Kelly, opened here today with an announcement by its chairman, Lord Hutton, that the Prime Minister, Tony Blair, and the Defence Secretary, Geoff Hoon, would be called to give evidence.

Kelly, who committed suicide last month, was a key figure in the controversy over allegations of abuse of Iraqi intelligence by the Blair Government.
