BANGALORE AUG. 1. Software exports from Bangalore touched an all-time high of $ 3 billion during 2002-03 and this is expected to cross $ 5 billion by 2003-04 and $ 10 billion by 2007-08, according to Ananth R. Koppar, Chairman, IT and IT-Enabled Services Committee, Greater Mysore Chamber of Industry (GMCI). In a press release here, Mr. Koppar said the present infrastructure in the State was inadequate and could not match the industry requirements and growth factors. There were a number of innovative initiatives at the policy level, he said and urged the State Government to correct problems faced by IT industries on the infrastructure front. Appreciating the Government's decision to set up software technology parks in Mysore, Hubli, and Mangalore, he said taking IT to small towns would help the common people.
