Enrol as traffic wardens, citizens told

By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE Aug. 1. The Police Commissioner of Bangalore, S. Mariswamy, has appealed to citizens to join the Traffic Warden Organisation (TWO).

He was speaking at the monthly evening lecture of the Council of Safety Professionals of Karnataka (Cospik) here on Friday.

Mr. Mariswamy pointed out that if citizens joined the TWO, they would get better knowledge of the difficulties involved in managing traffic. "To regulate traffic better, we need good roads, signals, and more importantly, more manpower. We also need organisations like the TWO and Cospik to make schoolchildren aware of safe driving practices,'' he added.

Mr. Mariswamy commended the TWO on its work. "On many occasions, I have seen our constables standing by the roadside watching traffic wardens work,'' he remarked. Earlier, the Chief Traffic Warden, M. Somanna, gave a presentation on "Road safety and defensive driving." Members of the TWO and Cospik were present. More information about Cospik is available on phone (671 6918).
