Journalism awards

Mumbai Aug. 3. Aashirwad, a social-cultural-literary organisation, has instituted awards for journalists in 18 different Indian languages for significant contribution to the promotion of national integration and social causes. Instituted in the memory of the renowned poet and writer, the late Harivansh Rai Bachchan, the award carries a purse of Rs. 5,000 and a trophy.

It will be given in September 2003 around the `Hindi Divas' in Mumbai. The languages are: Assamese, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, Bengali, Marathi, Punjabi, Hindi, Konkani, Manipuri, Nepali, Sanskrit, Urdu, Kashmiri, Oriya and Sindhi.

Entries along with a bio-data of the participants as also particulars of the news reports during the year 2002 may be sent to Aashirwad, 2/20, Juhu Vishal, Juhu Scheme, 5th Road, ext. Mumbai-400 049 or may be e-mailed to aashirwad@hotmail.com. The last date is August 16.
