The Minister said in an official release that a sewage treatment plant would start functioning at the Sannidhanam before the coming season. An incinerator had been set up last year to burn solid waste. Mr. Karthikeyan said that the sewage treatment plant at Pampa would achieve full capacity this year. With this, the sanitation would improve at Pampa. He said that the sewage plants were being established without harming the environment in anyway, using modern technology. The Bhasmakulam at the Sannidhanam and the Rudrakulam at Erumeli would be cleaned. Fresh water supply would be provided there throughout the season. The ban on plastics at Sabarimala would be strictly enforced. Pilgrims would be required to put waste materials in dustbins along the route. The Minister urged the pilgrims to cooperate with the efforts to keep the area clean. Full facilities for medical treatment would be made available at hospitals along the route.
