Letters to the Editor
Sir, L. K. Advani has said that the Government is thinking of " synchronising " elections to the Assembly with those to the Lok Sabha (Aug. 3). The idea is laudable as it will help reduce expenditure. But given that one-party rule is almost extinct and political stability depends on the relative strength of coalition partners in the post-election scenario, situations may arise from time to time when the dissolution of the State Assembly or the Lok Sabha becomes imminent. Mr. Advani's proposal, however good, is unworkable in the neo-political scenario.
